You found information on her that I did not. Just wanted to say, though, that Maud did not found Waitress's Union Local 48. It was founded in February 1906, survived the earthquake, and existed until 1972 when it merged with other culinary unions to form Hotel and Restaurant Employees Local 2. Maud cam along and was of great assistance to the union but did not found it. She was the founder of the Wage Earners' Suffrage League in 1908, along with fellow waitress Louis LaRue.
