In the Never Ending Saga of DC Public Schools...

I got this in my e-mail today. I'm drawing attention to it because it's a chance for parents to speak up (and non-parents) about the manner in which enrollment takes place. If you live near a school then you might want to express your concerns about buses or crossing areas for kids in terms related to neighborhood enrollment.

DCPS Student Enrollment Policies
DCPS is undertaking a process to revise our student enrollment policies.а Student enrollment policies determine which schools a student has a right to attend, along with defining school boundaries and feeder patterns.аа

The process of revising these policies will include a number of public meetings.а These meetings will be completed before the beginning of the out-of-boundary application process on January 28, 2009.а Any changes will take effect starting in the 2009-2010 school year.а

The first community meeting held to research public opinion and need is scheduled for Thursday, September 25, 6 p.m. 8:30 p.m. at Sousa Middle School, 3650 Ely Place, SE.
